“It involved a knife of some sort,” Resetar said. He could not say whether police are considering the incident a stabbing or slashing, he said.

One victim had lacerations and was airlifted by MONOC to a trauma center in Trenton while the other refused treatment, he said.

“Right now everything is speculation,” neighbor Kathleen Minniti of Meadowlark Drive said. “We saw the cops running up to the house saying, 'Open up, open up.' "

Residents were shocked by the report of a stabbing in their neighborhood, she said, describing the road as “quiet.” The street is at its busiest during Memorial Day Weekend.

“This street never had any commotion," Minniti said.

Nick Granberg of Lanoka Harbor was outside smoking a cigarette when he noticed the police cars, which led him to tell the neighbors.

“I was trying to leave but I wasn’t allowed,” he said. “I think that’s one of the scariest things ever.

“Something like that could happen in this town?” he said. “It’s outrageous.”

Police and detectives were still at the scene at 11 p.m. The incident is under investigation, and witnesses were being questioned.

Police on scene could not comment on the incident. Ocean County Executive Assistant Prosecutor Michael Paulhus has yet to receive information on the apparent stabbing, he said. It was not known late Friday night if any arrests had been made.

Lacey Detective Sgt. Chris Cornelius was unavailable for comment.

Lanoka Harbor EMS, Lanoka Harbor First Response Team, Lacey Township Police Department, Ocean County Sheriffs Department, MONOC Paramedics and MONOC Air One responded.
