This month, Time magazine named President Obama their Person of the Year, again.
The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including the president, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, and Apple CEO Tim Cook. But, the president took the title again four years after he first won the award as president-elect in 2008.
But how about locally? Who is the Lacey area’s Person of the Year — the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse”?

Seriously though, I probably have impacted more people's lives in this town than any other public figure (albeit in a more subtle way).
I suppose Sandy would qualify and be the hands down winner.
Matt Reid delivered Chinese food through the rain, snow, hail, freezing temperatures and holidays. Eating lo mein from China King? Thank Matt Reid. Able to bring the family together over a hot meal? Matt Reid most likely brought it. Need to know an address? He knows this town and its geographical intricacies better than most could comprehend. It's time to honor this unsung hero.
He has been my best friend for almost ten years. He has been a fellow co worker and school mate. He has been my protector and guider. I love him as a brother. He has brought so much to this county and our community, with the help on several boards; from cleaning up the town to equal rights. He is my hero..
