Barbara Graveman, Former Lacey Social Services Director, Dies At 78

Barbara Graveman, 78, of Forked River, died Friday March 7, 2014 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Rahway, formerly of Clark Township before moving to Forked River in 1971.

Mrs. Graveman was very active with the Ministries, and was a past superintendent of the Sunday School of the Osceola Presbyterian Church, Clark Township.

She was the bookkeeper and co-owner with her husband, of H & B Automotive of Clark and River Lights Marina, Forked River. She was also the former Director of Social Services for Lacey Township, retiring 18 years ago.

Mrs. Graveman was very active in the Rotary Club of Forked River and helped initiate the Thanksgiving food program and the Lacey Food Bank. Mrs. Graveman was presented with the Paul Harris Fellow Award, a very prestigious award from the Rotary Club of Forked River, for her selflessness and generous commitment to the community.

Most recently Barbara and her husband of 60 years Hank retired and spent half the year in their home on Tilghman Island, Maryland.

Surviving are her husband Henry W. Graveman,Sr.; her two sons Henry W. Graveman, Jr. and his wife Rosemarie of Bayville and John of Forked River; her two grandchildren Allison and Johnathan; her two sister in-laws and their husbands Carol and William Kriews of Manahawkin and Debra and James Ford of Union, NJ.

Visitation will be Monday 2-4 & 7-9 at Layton's Home For Funerals, 250 West Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ. A funeral service will be offered Tuesday 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Good Luck Cemetery, Lanoka Harbor.
