Southern Ocean Medical Center welcomes colon and rectal surgeon
Southern Ocean Medical Center is proud to announce the appointment of Howard M. Ross, M.D., FACS, FASCRS, to its medical staff. Dr. Ross is board certified in colon and rectal surgery, and general surgery. He is a clinical associate professor of surgery at UMDNJ, and is the Director of Colon and Rectal Oncology for Meridian Health.
Dr. Ross received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, where he graduated with distinction in research. He completed an integrated residency in general surgery at the University of Connecticut, and was fellowship trained in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and colon and rectal surgery at Lahey Clinic in Massachusetts.
Dr. Ross is an expert in laparoscopic approaches to colon and rectal disease, and has been an advocate for minimally invasive surgery by teaching surgeons throughout the United States various laparoscopic techniques. He was rated a “Top Doctor” in colon and rectal surgery by Inside Jersey magazine and the Top Doctors: New York Metro Area list from 2009 to 2012. Dr. Ross’ surgical expertise focuses on diseases and conditions such as colon and rectal cancer, diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease, hemorrhoids, ulcerative colitis, rectal prolapse and fecal incontinence.
