Forecasters Unsure of Thanksgiving Week Nor'Easter

Potential for storm to affect the area next week

Weather forecasters said models were split as to whether the Thanksgiving holiday would be following a nor'easter.

"Maybe, maybe, maybe," tweeted Gary Szatkowski, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Mt. Holly, regarding the prospects of a storm next week.

Forecast model guidance Thursday was split, he said - a few models had a storm out at sea, while some other guidance had it closer to shore.

"Remember that six days out, much can (and will) change with forecast for any potential storm," he said. "Keep an eye on the forecast in coming days."

The potential - as we emphasize, potential - storm could affect the area between Tuesday night and Wednesday night next week, which would dampen Thanksgiving travel plans.

Further complicating matters - a blast of cold air could mean that some areas would receive a wintry mix with potential snow. Highs next week will be in the mid-40s to near 50 in the Shore area, the National Weather Service is predicting, though the nighttime lows will are forecast to drop to freezing or below.
