Kimball Offers Fall Prevention Workshops and Balance Screenings

As part of its ongoing effort to educate seniors about their health, the Center for Healthy Aging at Kimball Medical Center will offer fall prevention workshops and balance screenings on Tuesday, October 9 at 11 a.m. at Howell Senior Center, located at 925 W. Grand River Avenue in Howell, and Thursday, October 25 from 1-4 p.m. at Crestwood Village IV, Independence Hall, located at 15 E. Moccasin Drive in Manchester.

Offered to adults over age 60, the preventative health program is designed to help seniors reduce falls and fall-related injuries. Health coaches, who act as healthcare liaisons, address issues that may contribute to falls, such as obstacles within the home, underlying medical issues and medication use. Health coaches also help participants identify their individual risk and offer balance screenings, as well as instruct participants on what to do if a fall occurs.

Seniors will have an opportunity to participate in balance screenings, meet the health coaches and learn what Kimball’s Center for Healthy Aging – as well as the Center for Healthy Living – has to offer. Balance screenings will be offered on the following dates:
