Police Charge Three In Cranberry Hill Vandalism Incidents

Lacey police have arrested three men on numerous charges in connection with more than 24 vandalism incidents on June 23, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Police responded to the Steuben Avenue area at 4:27 a.m. on a report of damaged yards and smashed mailboxes. The occupants drove a truck over lawns and yards and
knocked over mailboxes, police have said.

Police later arrested Matthew Uveges, 20, Forked River. He was charged with unlawfully taking a work truck from a yard on Haines Street.
Uveges "...purposely  drove onto the property of several residences and destroyed mailboxes in the Lanlac Drive and Cranberry Hill section of the township," Paprota said.

Police have estimated the total value of property damages at $2,025, the chief said.

Two other Lacey Township residents were in the truck at the time of the incidents. Joseph Everett, 21, and Stephen Sioma, 21, were both charged on June 23 with unlawful taking of means of conveyance (joyriding).

Uveges was subsequently arrested on Tuesday. He was charged with the third degree crime of unlawful taking of means of conveyance, third degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and  fourth degree criminal mischief, Paprota said.
