Officials Recommend Staying Indoors as Ocean Again Under Air Quality Alert

Conditions could become dangerous for those with certain health problems

Ocean County is once again under an air quality alert as temperatures are expected to reach the low-90s Monday, bringing potentially dangerous conditions.

According to a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection statement, the Code Orange quality alert that the county is under "means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups."

Those most at risk include children, the elderly and those suffering from asthma, heart disease or lung diseases. The department recommends that these groups avoid strenuous activity and outdoor exercise, as the effects of air pollution can can exacerbate these conditions.

Today should be mostly sunny with an expected high temperature of 93 degrees, the National Weather Serviced reported.

Ocean County Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari in a news release Monday recommended that those without air conditioning head to a climate-controlled county library branch or the Ocean County Mall in Toms River, especially later in the week as temperatures are .
