Lake Barnegat Drive North and Musket Drive to be Detoured

Road project begins this week

Lake Barnegat Drive North and Musket Drive will be detoured starting this week as the road project begins.

Milling and paving will begin Wednesday, Oct. 12 and will continue through Friday, Oct. 14. There will be temporary road closures and traffic re-routing.

The detours will be marked, and police will be present to assist in the process. The schedule for the road project is subject to change due to weather conditions.

With engineering and project costs as well as legal fees, , which was approved on Thursday, July 14. The township will bond $120,000 for the project, Township Administrator Veronica Laureigh said.

The Department of Transportation awarded Lacey Township a $250,000 grant for the Lake Barnegat Drive project but the total comes to $291,015.

The project will cover 5,525 feet of paving. Lake Barnegat Drive north of Lacey Road to Easy Street will be resurfaced along with a portion of Musket Road and approximately 500 feet of Lake Barnegat Drive North past Musket.

Once the project is awarded and approved by the DOT, the township can request 75 percent of the grant. The remaining money will be turned over to the township once the project has been signed off, completed and approved by the DOT.
