Lacey Road Detours Begin Today

State Dept. of Transportation anticipates roadwork will take one week

Repairs to a railway crossing in Whiting beginning today will mean week-long detours for motorists traveling on County Route 530.

The New Jersey Seashore Lines freight railroad crossing near Bowker Memorial Field on the county highway, also known as Lacey Road, will be repaired beginning at 5 a.m. Monday, according to a New Jersey Department of Transportation news release. Repairs are expected to be completed by 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28.

The current crossing will be replaced with a new concrete rail crossing and the asphalt approaches will be repaved as part of the $295,000 project, according to the NJDOT.

These detour routes were coordinated with Ocean County officials, according to the release, and will maintain access to businesses and properties around the construction.

The NJDOT warns that the timing of the project may change due to weather or other factors and advises motorists to check 511n.com for updates.
