Holiday Events This Week

Let us help you get the most out of your holiday season with a few great holiday event suggestions. Below are our picks for festive holiday events and happenings, from fall craft markets to Thanksgiving Eve parties!

Harrigan's Pub is hosting a free traditional Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24 for seniors. The Knights of Columbus Msgr. Thomas Reilly of Spring Lake will provide rides to all who need them. Contact Bob Phelan for reservations and rides at 732-681-1126.

Holiday Potluck Dinner at Southard Grange (4860 Route 9, Howell) from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27. Bring a side dish and/or a non-perishable item to be donated to a local charity. The actors of The Grange Playhouse will be performing a staged reading of the one-act play “The Long Christmas Dinner” by Thronton Wilder.

Turkey Derby XXXVIII is taking place on Nov. 25 & 26 at Wall Stadium. Grandstands open at 10 a.m., pre-purchased admission entrance is at 9:30 a.m. Grandstand adult tickets are $22 on Friday, and $30 on Saturday. Tickets for children (ages 6-14) are $10 for 1-day passes and $15 for 2-day passes. Ages 5 and younger are free. For racing times and tickets click here.  

Avon-By-The-Sea Fall Craft Market is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Avon Municipal Building. There will be hand crafted items for sale, as well as breakfast and lunch items available.

Robert J. Novis Planetarium Laser Shows at Ocean County College are Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26. Tickets: $14 adult, $12 senior/OCC Rewards, $10 children 12 & under.

  • Laser Holidays at 8:15 p.m
  • Laser Pink Floyd: The Wall at 9:30 p.m.

The City of Long Branch and Pier Village are hosting the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Festival Plaza in Pier Village  from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27. Enjoy an evening of music, gifts and a visit from Santa! There will be music by Tim McLoone & the Holiday Express. There will be hot chocolate, cookies, holiday treats, and trolly rides. 

Hemingway’s Cafe in Seaside Heights is throwing a Thanksgiving Eve party: The Shore’s Homecoming Headquarters. The party kicks off at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24 for dinner and will be broadcast live from 92.3 FM. $2 Coors Light bottles all night. Join your hometown friends at this annual throwdown!
