Heat Advisory In Effect For Tuesday

Temperatures are expected to hit 99 degrees but feel like 101

With temperatures expected to hit 99 degrees on Tuesday, Ocean County has been put under a heat advisory.

The heat advisory will be in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service, the heat and humidity will create dangerous conditions, making temperatures feel like 101 degrees.

The National Weather Service recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun and checking on neighbors and relatives.

The National Weather Service also has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook in effect until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and an Air Quality Alert.

A code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations may become unhealthy for children; people suffering from asthma, heart disease, or other lung diseases; and the elderly.

To minimize the effects of air pollution, avoid strenuous activities or exercise outdoors.

Here is the weather forecast for the week according to the National Weather Service:

Tonight: 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight with temperatures around 74 degrees.

Tuesday: Party sunny with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will hit 99 but feel like 101 degrees.

Tuesday Night: 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with a low around 72 degrees.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high around 92 degrees.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 65.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 86.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 68.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 84.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 69.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 69.
