Barnegat Police Arrest Two For Theft Of U.S. Flag From Municipal Dock
Flag stolen on the Fourth of July
Two Barnegat residents have been charged with the Fourth of July theft of the large U.S. flag from the municipal dock, police said.
Police were called to the dock at 6:50 a.m. that day on a report of a theft. They found that someone had cut the 120-foot rope securing the 19-foot by 10-foot flag to the flagpole.

After a brief investigation, he identified the suspects as Clayton McNabb, 18, and Adriane Cuchelo, 18. Hetrick was able to recover the undamaged stolen flag which he discovered at Cuchelo's Tara Lane residence, police said.
Cuchelo, who was not home when Hetrick recovered the flag, and McNabb were arrested on July 9. Both were charged with fourth degree theft, processed and released pending a court date, police said.
