Authorities Arrest Six On Various Drug Charges After Motor Vehicle Stop In Lacey

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office recently arrested six people on drug charges after a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Route 9 and Jones Road, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato said.

Members of the Special Operations Group stopped the silver 2005 Hyundai XG5 made at 7:15 p.m on June 14, after obtaining arrest and search warrants.

Police observed occupants of a brown Volkswagen Jetta meeting with Tracey Beard, aka Tracey Gettis and Jason Wilkens, who were in the Hyundai. They approached both cars and arrested Beard and Wilkens on outstanding warrants for distribution of heroin and the four occupants of the Jetta on other drug charges, Coronato said.

Police recovered a quantity of heroin and a hypodermic syringe from the Hyundai and 20 bags of heroin and a small amount of marijuana, he said.

Beard, 42, Clay Street, Bayville, was charged with three counts of possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute and distribution of heroin. Ocean County Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. set her bail at $50,000, with no ten percent option.

Wilkins, 42, Grand Central Parkway, Bayville, was charged with two counts each of possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, and distribution of heroin. His bail was also set at $50,000, with no ten percent option.

Also arrested were the occupants of the Volkswagen. They include Carmen Varga, 35,Adelphia Road, Toms River. Varga was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute,possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on his own recognizance.

Police also arrested Shawn G. Schenck, 36, Charlotte, North Carolina, Brooke A. Johnson, 25 of 1255 Route 166, Toms River, and Haskell T. Williams, 21, Columbia, South Carolina. All three were charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and released on their own recognizance.

The Lacey Township police department and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit assisted in the execution of the search warrants and the investigation, Coronato said.
