Adoption Alert: Della Adopted and Returned to Popcorn Park 40 Pounds Heavier

Della was originally from a shelter in Georgia, where she arrived as a stray

Della, a 7-year-old yellow lab/vizsla mix, originally arrived at the Popcorn Park shelter with a group from Georgia.

When Della, who arrived at a shelter in Georgia as a stray, came to Forked River she was thin and ill with heartworm.

Della got adopted and was in a home for several months before she was returned for “jumping on people.”

The lab mix not only needed some cleaning up and care upon her arrival, but she returned 40 pounds heavier.

Della is described as loving, playful, energetic and well behaved. She is house trained and walks well on a leash.

She would be good with kids, but no cats. Those interested in adopting Della, who has another dog, could set up a play date to see how they interact with each other.

To adopt Della, stop by Popcorn Park at 1 Humane Way to fill out an application. For more information call 609-693-1900.

That is sad. When we adopted Elaine now called Nysa, back in 2009. She was just brought in from your rescuers from Georgia. She was abused, our vet thinks she had the collar embedded in her neck, and was most likely burned from cigarettes just from the scars. She chose me. From that first day I feel in love with her. It was her eyes that spoke; she wanted someone to finally love her. She came wasn't house broken had accidents (but we finally learned her signs) jumped on people (of course when she felt comfortable) it takes hard work and dedication. If people aren't ready to take on that responsibility that comes with training/owning a pet, then don't get any. Please leave them for people that are willing to. Most of these dogs have had a rough start in life, abused, neglected etc. And to be adopted and then given up again. It takes a toll on them. Be responsible, don't adopt if you can't commit..

Better returned than abused or neglected
