Friday Foodstuffs: Restaurant Weeks? We Got 'Em

Lots 'n lots o' restaurant weeks in the South Jersey area in the upcoming weeks!

Need some suggestions for a place to do out for dinner? I’m going to give you five good suggestions:

1) Collingswood Restaurant Week

2) SJ Hot Chefs Fall Harvest Week

3) Jersey Shore Restaurant Week

4) Somers Point Restaurant Week

AND

5) Savor Borgata Restaurant Week

Now you may notice a common theme with these suggestions. It’s the best-bang-for-your-buck idea, which is why restaurant weeks are a popular (and now very common) event.

Collingswood’s restaurant week starts this Sunday (Oct. 23) and runs through October 28. All the big names along Haddon Avenue and beyond will be participating, such as Blackbird, West Side Gravy, Tortilla Press, IndeBlue, and Nunzio’s (just to name a few). Check out the link from Collingswood’s website to see the menus being offered at each location.

The following week is SJ Hot Chefs Fall Harvest Week, and all member restaurants in Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties are participating. From Sunday, Oct. 30 to Friday, Nov. 4, enjoy a four-course meal from a SJ Hot Chef restaurant for $35 (and in some cases, $25). Take a look at the current roster of SJ Hot Chefs restaurants as well as the special menus being offered that week.

The week after that is a an all-shore event on two fronts. You have Jersey Shore Restaurant Week, which covers Ocean and Monmouth counties, and then there’s Somers Point Restaurant Week, covering the southern shore. Jersey Shore Restaurant Week restaurants will offer a 3-course meal for $30.11 (or $20.11 for some), plus many more special events taking place during the week. Go to their website for all the details. Somers Point Restaurant Week restaurants will be offering lunch for $11.07 and dinner for $25.07. Enjoy either (or both) restaurant weeks from Friday, Nov. 4 to 13.

And then there’s Borgata’s own Restaurant Week, which is taking place from Sunday, Nov. 6 to 11. The heavy hitters at Borgata will offer diners a choice between a 3-course meal for $33 and a 4-course meal for $44. That’s a pretty sweet deal when you’re talking about restaurants such as Bobby Flay Steak, Izakaya and Fornelletto. And then for good measure, the celeb chefs at Borgata will be having a special Taste of American Classics dinner and event on Saturday, Nov. 12. Not only will you get to chance to enjoy the food, but you’ll get to meet the chefs themselves! Pretty cool, n’est pas?

How does this weekend look?

In Ocean County

On Saturday, it's the Fall Harvest Festival at Manahawkin Lake Park in, well, Manahawkin. And on Saturday and Sunday, enjoy the Laurita Harvest Festival at Laurita Winery in New Egypt.

A Little Ways Away

For Saturday, it’s Octoberfest in Sea Isle City, and the ultimate battle for drink supremacy: Beer vs. Wine at the Adriane Phillips Ballroom in Boardwalk Hall down in Atlantic City.

And If You're a Bit More Adventurous

On Saturday and Sunday, enjoy the Italian Festival at Bellview Winery in Landisville OR there's the first annual Waterfront Wine & Food Festival at Lake Lenape Park in Mays Landing.

It's WHAFIS, not WHALIS, and it MUST be incorporated in the overland wave propagation modeling. I'veRead More been telling you this for weeks @Spooner. I offered to discuss it, but you were caught up on some sand blaster theory. BFE's will certainly be affected. As a sidebar, the author of the link mentioned mixed up the mapping terms. We currently have effective maps or FIRM's which establish BFE. The maps (ABFE)that were released in December and adopted as the state building code (+ freeboard) are advisory (incomplete and wrong). Working maps are due out in a few weeks followed shortly thereafter by preliminary maps, which are the maps that can be appealed. Approximately 18 to 24 months after the release of the preliminary maps there will be new effective maps (new FIRM's) with new BFE 's. If the preliminary maps are not drastically different than the ABFE's, you can count on a mass of appeals, and quite likely, protracted litigations.

@Spooner, I have something that you may want to read. Go to the Borough of Mantoloking website. OnRead More the right hand side is a column entitled Post Sandy Information. Near the bottom is a tab called "uncategorized". Click on it and there is a letter used as the Boro response to ABFE. It is very telling and makes a lot of sense.

Congrats, Pat. You deserve this. Despite all you've been through, you kept it going with your job,Read More your writing, and all the "chronicles" that expressed the plight of the Sandy victims in a way that no one else could. That has been so appreciated.
