Strawberries have come early here in South Jersey. Strawberry festivals, however, have arrived as they always do – right in the beginning of June. If you’ve been waiting for the festivals, this… THIS is your weekend.
Now, Johnson’s Corner Farm in Medford has been having their weekend Strawberry Festival events for the past two weekends, but they have one more going on this weekend. Their strawberry stuff is happening on Friday and Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m.
Saturday brings a bushel of strawberry festivals: at Wilbraham Park in West Cape May, at Gandy Farmstead in Greenfield, and at Dutch Neck Village in Bridgeton.

This weekend also launches the start of the ridiculously large and awesome Philly Beer Week, which runs from June 1-10. It’s simply too large to try to even break down all that goes on during Philly Beer Week, though some have tried (like the good folks at 22nd & Philly). South Jersey gets involved in the sudsy spirit of things, and this Saturday is the Haddon Pub Fest, where you can enjoy a fun little pub crawl along Haddon Avenue in Haddon Township. The crawl is from noon to 6 p.m.
This weekend is also the start of a slew of restaurant weeks that have popped up recently all along the Jersey Shore. Friday kicks off the Flavor of Sea Isle, which features restaurants in Sea Isle City and will finish up on June 8. 7 Mile Restaurant Week, which involves restaurants in Avalon and Stone Harbor, also starts on Friday and will run through June 10. And then on Sunday, it’s the start of Cape May Restaurant Week, which will also run until June 10. For good measure, there are also a couple of one-day “Taste of”s going on this weekend: a Taste of Bordentown on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m., and the annual A Taste of South Jersey at Adventure Aquarium in Camden on Monday from 6 to 8:30 p.m..
Now that’s a full foodie weekend right there…and yet, there’s more!
Friday night is the annual Wine Tasting at Paulsdale in Mount Laurel from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $50 per person.
On Saturday, it’s the annual Delaware Bay Day at the Bayshore Discovery Project in Bivalve from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Point Pleasant will be the place for two events: the annual Summerfest in Community Park from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and later on a Cigar Party at Forte Unique Cuisines from 3 to 7 p.m. The cigar party is $30 per person.
At FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, it’s the Jersey Shore Wine Festival on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door.
Sunday brings the Medford Art, Wine & Music Festival on Main Street from noon to 4 p.m. as well as an Italian Street Festival at Renault Winery Resort and Golf in Egg Harbor City from noon to 5 p.m.
AND…all weekend long there will be a one-year anniversary celebration going on at Landis MarketPlace in Vineland. A seafood boil and pig roast are part of the festivities.

Saturday: Summertime Cheesemaking Workshop at Sur La Table, Grilling Party and Classic Steakhouse at Viking Cooking School, and Pasta and Ravioli Making at Kitchen Kapers in Moorestown.
Sunday: Backyard Entertaining and Italian Seafood Dinner at Viking Cooking School and the first class of Bread Boot Camp at The Culinary Arts Center at Burlington County College in Mount Holly.
