Wind turbines will be installed in the Walmart parking lot after September; Yogo is, in fact, coming to Lacey

You’ve recently learned about a  in Lacey Township but what else is new in Lacey?

Here’s the scoop, or part of it in some cases.

The rumors are true. A Yogo Factory will be opening at 702 N. Main St. in Forked River. A representative said the factory will be opening within a week or two since it was recently granted its permits. Operation will be from 11 a.m. to midnight daily. And A Cherry on Top is a new pastry and pizza shop in Lacey Township that seems to be all the rave. It’s located at 1015 Lacey Road in Forked River and can be reached at 609-549-5148. The store sells bakery items, pastries, bread, pizza, ravioli, espresso, ice cream, bagels and more. More to follow on this business.

Dewey’s Dogs is still in operation at Route 9 and Lakeside Drive South until just the first week of September but good news is, the business has The store has yet to open as it's still undergoing work inside but follow Dewey’s Facebook page to stay updated. The Geiger family, owners and operators of Dewey's, said they are aiming for a grand opening of Saturday, Sept. 8 or sooner.

Fast Cash has in Forked River but it has yet to open. A store employee said a tentative opening date has yet to be set. The store on Lacey Road remains open. 

Chase Bank replaced the old Wawa on Route 9 but a representative did not return calls with a tentative opening day. Construction does appear to be coming to a close.

We all know wind turbines will be installed in the parking lot of Walmart — —it’s just a matter of when. Lowell Neff, a representative of OmniWind Energy Systems, which will be installing the turbines, said, “I don’t have an update right now.” But Bill Wertz, spokesman for Walmart, said that the company has postponed installation until after September due to heavy customer traffic during the summer months. A specific date has yet to be set, he said. Once installation is under way, certain areas of the parking lot will be closed — about 150 feet of parking aisle at a time on a rotating basis. Retro Fitness is officially coming to Lacey Township. Earlier this month, the on Route 9 and Lakeside Drive South to be built with Retro Fitness. Once all permits are granted, it could take six to nine months for the first phase of the project to be completed.

The Planning Board approved White Castle in June  As of June, the fast food company still needed certain state approvals.

Dollar General, which was and the railroad right-of-way, will return to the Planning Board in August. 

A Cellular Sales store recently opened at 340 Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor. The store is an official Verizon distributor and is currently seeking sales representatives (just a tip for local job seekers).

Marina Buffet, located at 316 S. Main St., opened and can be reached at 609-693-2888. The buffet has Chinese, Japanese and American cuisine. Lunch is $7.49 and dinner is $10.99. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Marina Buffet is BYOB, doesn’t accept reservations and has takeout and catering services.

Rella’s Italian Tavern, located at 443 S. Main St, also has opened and can be reached at 609-242-0042. The restaurant accepts reservations, walk-ins and has catering services. It is open Monday through Sunday from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. (kitchen closes at 10 p.m.) and happy hour is from 3 to 6 p.m.
