7-Eleven May Open Before the New Year

The owner of the new 7-Eleven located on the site of the Lacey Shell is still aiming to open before the New Year, Waseem Chaudhary of Sean Realty, LLC said.

“We are still aiming but you know, it all depends,” he said. “We are working very hard to finish it but I cannot tell you 100 percent that we will.”

The store is waiting for pieces to fall in place, including having the electricity turned on, he said.

The 7-Eleven will be window, Chaudhary said. The drive through will have a menu but generally customers will be able to purchase coffee, slurpees, donuts and sandwiches.

Drivers will proceed to the drive through in the back of the 7-Eleven and will exit either in front of the Lacey Shell or onto Newark Avenue, Chaudhary said.

The and auto repair garage, also located on the site, will remain open, Chaudhary said. But the convenient store, which was previously located in between Shell’s pumps, was demolished.

The store and gas station will be open 24 hours, seven days a week.

“I’m looking forward to opening our doors, bringing customers back with the number on gasoline brand in the world and a 7-Eleven drive through,” he said.  “We redid the whole place.”

The 7-Eleven has a modern look to it and Chaudhary said they redid the landscaping, paving and installed a LED sign.

“We did the whole nine yards,” he said. “I’m hoping all the customers will come and we’ll have our business back.”

Chaudhary will be holding a “big grand opening” once the store opens.
