Snooki to Disgruntled Shore Residents: 'Grow Up'

'I pray for you,' she says to those who do not want her in Berkeley Township

Berkeley Township's newest seasonal resident isn't feeling the love from Shore locals, and she has a message to those who don't want her around: "grow up."

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, a former cast member of the MTV series "Jersey Shore," took to social media to blast critics of the recent announcement that she would be filming her current series, "Snooki & JWoww" at a home in Berkeley Township's Pelican Island section.

The current show is a spin-off of Jersey Shore in which Polizzi stars with Jennifer "JWoww" Farley.

In a social media post on Instagram, Polizzi infers that she cannot understand why people want to "ban my son, fiancé and I from enjoying our summer at the shore."

"Grow up, get over yourself and move on," she said. "This is not how we should be treating one another. Absolutely sick and very sad. I pray for you. There's much bigger things to worry about in life than trying to ban my family from your neighborhood."

Hours before the "grow up" post, Polizzi tweeted that she was hungover, and included the hashtag "#thisiswhyidontdrinkanymore."

Count Berkeley Township's mayor, Carmen Amato, as one of the people who may have been the object of the pint-sized reality star's rage.

“Obviously, I’m not thrilled about this,” Amato told Patch last week. “Especially since the Pelican Island section of Berkeley Township was hit hard by Superstorm Sandy. Many residents haven’t been back and those that are are struggling to rebuild.”

Berkeley Township may have been chosen as a filming location since it does not have an ordinance in place that requires permitting before television shows can be shot within its borders. Amato said he has directed the township's attorney to draft such an ordinance for consideration at the next council meeting, which is scheduled for Monday night at 7 p.m.

Several New Jersey towns, including Hoboken and Point Pleasant Beach, have previously denied the show a permit to film.

Last year, the spinoff show filmed in Manchester, and town officials described the pair as "quiet neighbors," despite their notorious antics on the original Jersey Shore show.

This excerpt is from the Star Ledger today. Apparently, HOA secretary Cortinas and resident Hoffman believe they own the rights of citizens to use roadways, the waterways, to look, or to walk: "[.... Pelican Island was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. Cortinas said of the roughly 150 homes on the island, “maybe 25 or 30 residents are back. So it’s primarily vacant.” The Pelican Island residents who gathered at the Saw Mill Cafe on the boardwalk in Seaside Park this morning expressed concerns that filming in the community would attract gawkers and create traffic problems as residents are trying to rebuild their homes. “Besides vehicular traffic, there is going to be pedestrian traffic, foot traffic,” said Ed Hoffman, a Berkeley Township resident who has lived on Pelican Island for 25 years. “People are going to be coming over by Jet Skis and boats just to look at that house.”]"

Let me ask you this@grace, do you think if Sandy never occurred, and given the same circumstances, that the elitist residents still would have raised objections? I do.
