Former Lacey schools Superintendent Sandra D. Brower will not be returning to Lacey.

Board of Education members voted Monday night not to renew Brower's contract when it expires.

Brower, 46, was suspended without pay in June, after she was indicted by a Monmouth County grand jury and charged with second-degree official misconduct, third-degree hindering apprehension and fourth-degree obstruction during the time she was assistant superintendent in Wall Township.

Lacey Board of Education President Eric Schubiger did not attend the meeting. Board members Jack Martenak and Linda Downing abstained.

Come back to Lacey Patch soon for more information.

Finally, some semblance of rationality in such an irrational progression. Conspicuous absence and abstentions. Don't forget that in the future Board members.

Question: When does the contract expire?
WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot July 23, 2013 at 07:33 AM
Patch barely makes an effort to report "news" and still insists on including irrelevant pictures.
GB Shore July 23, 2013 at 07:44 AM
Abstentions because Mr.. Martenak's wife teaches in the system and I assume that there is same with Ms. Downing. This is why you should NOT be able to hold a seat on the Board if there is a conflict....because you then cannot vote on critically important issues.

How about they do away with the Patch altogether since you are never satisfied with what it brings you and then you can go back to getting your info the good ol fashion way. .... Thru GOSSIP! !! Shm. ....people you really need to get a grip on whats really going on an whats really important.

Clap Clap Clap. Wow the Board finally got something right. Let's hope they finally woke up and will continue doing the right thing. When is Brower's next court date of the charges?
Really? July 23, 2013 at 09:07 AM
According to past articles her court date & Habel's was yesterday. Still many questions. I wonder if she will still have to be bought out of her existing contract? Was there a behavior clause in it? I still can't understand why she was hired by Lacey. Didn't anyone google her? Her troubles in Wall were all there for the world to see. Habel's support should have been a red flag to the Lacey BOE and the fact that it wasn't is troubling to the whole mess. Their karma caught up with them. Absolute Power corrupts absolutely.

Joey Joe Answer Yes Last night . I was There Proud Her contract is from Dec 1 2011 till July 1 2016
Joey Joe July 23, 2013 at 10:46 AM
@proud - If memory serves (think I read that somewhere back in May/June timeframe) her contract expires in July of 2016 -- if indeed this is the case I sure as hell hope that there was an escape clause in the contract language - otherwise Lacey would be on the hook for over a quarter of a million $.
proud July 23, 2013 at 11:11 AM
So, if the case lingers in court, even though the attorney has called for a speedy trial, the taxpayers are on the hook for medical benefits for three years ? Does she also get pension contributions? Is the board loading up a tax free annuity like Wall did for Habel? All for someone who hasn't worked for months, and will never eat lunch in this town again. Shameful!

All you gossip mongers on here would be better served by going to the Lacey Bd of Ed website and reading her contract. . . it's there in black and white, both the original and the amended. It would appear by the boards actions, that they anticipate a long drawn out trial date, and hope by their contract non renewal vote, that she would tender her resignation... http://www.laceyschools.org/pages/Lacey_SD/Board_of_Education/LTSD_Financial_Data__Contracts/Contracts___Job_Descriptions

Maybe Superstorm Sandy is hoping to sue the pants off Lacey for renumeration for doing NOTHING.
