Oyster Creek Back Online After Undergoing Repairs

Plant had been shut down since last weekend

The Oyster Creek Generating Station resumed full-power operations at 8:04 a.m. Friday, after technicians successfully completed repairs on a system that regulates pressure to the steam turbines, plant officials said.

The plant had been offline since Dec. 14 after control room operators manually shut down the reactor in response to increasing reactor pressure, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission said previously.

At the time of the shutdown, turbine valve testing was being performed on the plant, the NRC said.

Work could not be performed while the plant was generating electricity, said Suzanne D'Ambrosio, plant spokeswoman. Staff also performed additional maintenance work to "keep the unit operating reliably and efficiently."
