Lacey Prepares for a Busy Weekend

From sales to benefits and celebrations, Lacey Township will be busy this weekend.

Below is a list of the local events being held on Saturday, May 14:

Community Flea Market

Join Lacey United Methodist Church for a Community Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for sales and baked goods. The Thrift Store will also have sales. A vendor table costs $10.

Fight for Air Walk

The Goddard School of Forked River will be hosting their annual 5K walk for asthma and other lung related illnesses at 10 a.m. The event will also have a moon bounce, pony rides, games, food and other activities. Other local businesses including Applebee's, Dunkin Donuts, Rita’s Ice, Forked River Freezer, and the Forked River Fire Department will be donating their time, money and products or foods to the event. Over the course of four years, The Goddard School has raised over $50,000 for this cause. There is a $10 minimum donation.

Flower Sale

The Lacey Township Garden Club is having a flower sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 300 Riviera Drive in Forked River. Flowers, plants, and vegetables will be offered. All proceeds benefit the Lacey Township Garden Club scholarship fund.

Family Walk

at 10 a.m. at Hebrew Park. The purpose of the walk is to offer families alternative activities to help keep kids from substance abuse. Walkers will walk around the park once or twice. Two laps will equal a total of 1.5 miles. Following the Family Walk, DJ Mike Klebacher will entertain the children with music and games. There will be prizes and pedometers will be given to the first 75 people who registered.

Idol Contests

The school district will be holding Lacey Teacher Idol from 12 to 3 p.m. The event will feature the many talents of five Lacey’s teachers. Admission is $5 for students and seniors, $10 for adults.

At 7 p.m., Lacey Township High School will be hosting the finals of the

Polka Party

There will be a Polka Party at the Lacey Elks Lodge on Beach Boulevard in Forked River from 1  to 5 p.m. The G.B. Polka Band will provide entertainment and a cash bar will be available. Admission is $20 and includes an authentic Polish buffet. All proceeds benefit local charities.

Relay for Life

Relay for Life, an event and fundraiser for cancer awareness, will begin as early as 8 a.m. at Veteran’s Park in Bayville. The opening ceremony begins at 2 p.m. and will consist of the national anthem, a survivor medallion ceremony, a survivor lap, caregiver lap, and a banner lap. There will be numerous activities for children and adults alike, including face painting, sand art, water balloon toss, and live performances. Attached is a .pdf of the schedule.
