Lacey Elks to Hold Run for the Heroes

The event will feature a 5K and a one-mile fun run/walk on Saturday, March 23

The Lacey Elk's Lodge will be hosting the Elk's Run for the Heroes, a 5K and a one-mile fun run/walk on Saturday, March 23.

The event will begin at the Lacey Elk's Lodge in Forked River with the one-mile fun run/walk starting at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K beginning at 10:30 a.m.

There will be an after party at the Lacey Elk's Veteran's Pavilion with music, food, refreshments and kids activities.

The Elks are looking for participants and business sponsors of the event. Becoming a sponsor, will allow businesses to showcase their company.

"We are in need of sponsors to help offset the costs of running the Elk's Run for the Heroes event," a news release on the event said.

Proceeds from the event will benefit special needs children, veterans services, youth activities and the Army of Hope, a program designed to assist families of fallen soldiers and wounded warriors. 

"They are the brave men and woman of the New Jersey armed forces that served our country and dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms," the news release said.

To participate or become a sponsor, contact Joe Balogh at 732-688-2885. Those who pre-register will receive a Run for the Heroes t-shirt.

Pre-registration for the 5K is $25. For kids 14 years old and under, registration is $20. Registration on March 23 is $35.

Pre-registration for the one-mile fun run/walk is $15, $10 for kids 14 years old and under. Registration on March 23 is $25.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks is a national fraternal organization comprised of over 1 million men and women from more than 2,000 communities throughout the country. There are more than 42,000 members in New Jersey. The organization is known for its philantropic assistance to members of the community.
