June 8: School Dance, Soccer Tryouts, Doggy Yappy Hour

Events in and around Lacey Township

1. Fish’n for the Cause is on in Point Pleasant. The bluefish and striped bass tournament will benefit National Breast Cancer and Clean Ocean Action. The fisherman to break a state record catch will win a 2012 F150 Pickup Truck from Weisleder Ford. There will also be various prizes. An award barbeque is on Sunday, June 10 at 3 p.m.

2. The Ocean County Health Department is offering free stroke screenings at the County Connection in Toms River beginning at 9:30 a.m.

3. Bring your best friend (on a leash) to Doggy Yappy Hour at Ocean County Park in Lakewood from 6 to 8 p.m. The night will feature displays, vendors, demonstrations and give-a-ways.

4. Tryouts for a 15 and under Lacey soccer team, which were to take place tonight, was postponed until Friday, June 15 at 6 p.m. at Gille Park. Email consifam@verizon.net for more information.

5. Lacey Middle School’s eighth grade dance is from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
