July 12: Summer Reading Programs, Bracelet Bonanza, Ghost Research Lecture

Events in and around Lacey Township

1. The school district is featuring Rutgers University’s summer reading programs on its website. The university is offering summer programs in phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, study skills and speed reading. The classes are offered in Toms River and Brick for grades kindergarten through 12. There are also programs available for college student and adults. For more information or to register call 1-800-978-9596.

2. Students entering grades six through eight can explore different career options at Ocean County Vocational Technical School’s Summer Exploratory 2012. Students will have the opportunity to sample programs offered by OCVTS from 8 a.m. to noon through Thursday, July 12. Admission is $100 per student.

3. The County Connection is offering free blood pressure screenings at the Ocean County Mall from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

4. Children ages 8 to 12 can bring old t-shirts to for a Bracelet Bonanza from 4 to 5 p.m.

5. At 7 p.m., members of the South Jersey Ghost Research Team will discuss their work and investigations and explain their equipment and techniques at the library. The program is for individuals ages 12 and up.
