Hebrew Park Fundraiser to Benefit Ana Kopack's Family

A benefit for the Kopack family will be held at Hebrew Park at 6 p.m. Friday.

Ana Kopack, 10, of Lacey lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday, Sept. 26. She was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer, in March 2011.

Ana’s friends Caitlyn and Ashlyn put together the benefit. The girls had been involved in fundraisers for the Kopacks through their soccer team.

“I was in my room one night and I texted Ashlyn and we came up with an idea to do this fundraiser,” Caitlyn said.

One of Ashlyn’s fondest memories of Ana was at a fundraiser.

“She was having a good time and acting like she wasn’t going through anything,” she said.

Caitlyn described her as a “strong and beautiful” girl.

The event will feature a gift auction, bake sale and snack stand, fire trucks and a dunk tank with Mayor Mark Dykoff.

There will also be two benefit soccer games between the girl’s soccer team and the women coaches and the boy’s soccer team and the male coaches.

On Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m., there will also be a benefit for the Kopack family at the Berkeley Soccer Association soccer complex at the southern end of Eastern Boulevard. Lacey soccer coaches will be competing against Berkeley coaches. Spectators are asked for a $5 donation for adults and $2 per child.
