PHOTOS: Girl Scouts Celebrate 100 Years in Bamber Lake

Troops throughout Ocean County held a bridging ceremony in celebration of the centennial of the founding of the Girl Scouts

Troop 476 held a bridging event in Bamber Lake for about 100 girls from troops all over Ocean County. The girls crossed the bridge at the beach in celebration of the centennial of the founding of the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.

Troop Leadery Maryann Pietruska said they organized the event to accommodate troops that could not join a larger bridging ceremony last November when 2,500 Girl Scouts crossed the George Washington Bridge in New York to symbolize crossing into the next century of scouting.

The event included opening and closing ceremonies, a sing-a-long and a swap.
