Elks Flag Retirement Ceremony Set for Sunday, Aug. 5

The event is free and open to the public

The will be hosting the New Jersey Elk’s South East District Flag Retirement Ceremony on Sunday, Aug. 5 at noon.

“The ceremony is held each year to commemorate the retirement of the American flag, a symbol of our great nation,” a press release said. “Elks from all over the New Jersey South East District will participate in this ceremony.”

The event includes Exalted Rulers, members of the dignitaries from the District, the ceremonial retirement of the flag, firing of a 21-gun salute, live Taps and Color Guard participation.

Guest speaker Assemblywoman Diane C. Gove from legislative district nine, who serves on the New Jersey Military and Veteran’s Affairs Committee, will also be present.

The event is free and open to the public. The Lodge is located at 900 Beach Boulevard in Forked River. For more information call 609-693-1281.
