Bryan Magerowski of Lacey installed a flagpole at the church and will be building a garden and remounting the church's cross

The in Lacey is undergoing a beautification project.

Bryan Magerowski, 15, has taken on the three-pronged project to earn his Eagle Scout rank. So far, he and a group of scouts have installed a flagpole.

“Everyone wanted a flagpole and to get it raised as well. Nobody was getting it done so I did it,” said Magerowski, a member of the church.

“I’m really proud to do this project and I really think it’s going to benefit the church,” he said.

Church members have donated more than $1,200 towards the project. Local professionals are also helping out, such as an electrician at the church.

“Our church has been such a huge part of our families lives. He is very excited to be able to do this important work to make it look as beautiful inside and we know it is inside with our wonderful church family,” Bryan’s mother Wendy Magerowski said.

The general feeling of the parish is excitement and appreciation, Pastor Mark Stillman said.

"It's been exciting to see the project develop. I've been very impressed with the maturity and leadership Bryan's shown throughout the project," Stillman said. "It's just a pretty site to drive down the street and see the flagpole with the flag flying on it...We thank the Lord every day for the freedom we have in this country. It means a a lot to a lot of people."
