Blind Dog At Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park Needs A Loving Home

Jack gets around just fine, despite his blindness

A dog who has already been through too much needs a loving home, according to the Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park Facebook page.

"Our little friend Jack the Pekingese is looking good and feeling fine these days, and he is ready to move on to a wonderful home of his own. Jack was adopted recently, but was returned when the other dog in the home was not able to accept him. We're confident that Jack will find his forever home soon though, and he certainly deserves the best after all he's been through.

Jack was dumped many months ago at a New York city shelter and was listed as "to be destroyed" when we spotted him. This sweet little guy was suffering terribly with ocular disease and was in a great deal of pain. When he came to us at Popcorn Park, he had already lost his vision and his eyes were too far gone to be saved. Our veterinarian had to remove his eyes, and once Jack recovered from the procedure, he was like a new man. He was pain-free for the first time in a long time and just as happy as can be.

Jack is an absolute darling that is so sweet and well behaved. He's very well adapted to being sightless and gets around just fine. Jack is still a bit nervous when people approach him too quickly or get too near his face, but once he learns he can trust you, he loves to be held and cuddled, and will be your best friend.

Jack is fine with other well-behaved dogs and would prefer a home with no children under the age of 10. Our little sweetheart has been given his second chance in life, now he just needs a wonderful family to live it with! File#23394 3/25/14
