Army of Hope Raises $125K for Wounded and Fallen Soldiers

The State Elks Association's committee has raised over one million dollars in eight years

More than $125,000 was raised for the families of wounded and fallen soldiers at the State Elks Association’s eighth annual Army of Hope event held on Sept. 9 at the Lacey Elks Lodge.

The event is held annually to pay tribute and show support for fallen soldiers, wounded warriors and their families, and the members of the armed forces from New Jersey for their dedication and sacrifice, Rich Bard of the State Elks Association said.

The event typically raises approximately $100,000 annually. Each year, disbursements are be made to more than 1,000 military families, he said.

More than 1,000 people from across the state, including 30 families from military members, attended the Army of Hope picnic, he said.

The event featured Bridgemen, St. Brendan the Navigator and a roll call of all New Jersey fallen soldiers.
