April 11: Leaf Pickup, Book Drive, Flea Market and More

Events in and around Lacey Township

1. The first leaf pickup cycle began on Monday, April 9. Leaves must be placed at curbside by 7 a.m. For more information on leaf pickup, click here. Each cycle will take 10 working days.

2. Residents can still drop new children’s books off at Blue Boon Books on Route 9 as part of the United Through Reading’s Military Program. Deployed service men and women read a book while being recorded on DVD. The DVD and book are then sent to the child.

3. There is a flea market and chance auction at St. Francis Community Center in Brant Beach on Long Beach Island from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The chance auction is at 2 p.m. For more information call 609-494-8861.

4. Tuckerton Seaport is holding “Lunch N’ Learn Series: Sea Nettles in the Bay” from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The Barnegat Bay Partnership will discuss ongoing research efforts into the increase of stinging sea nettles. For more information call 609-296-8868.

5. Ocean County College is holding a free Career and Job Exploration Workshop at 1 p.m.
