Lacey Youth Lacrosse Player to Participate in National Lacrosse Festival

While Lacrosse is still a new sport to Lacey it is the oldest sport in North America and also the fastest growing sport in both the United States and also here in Lacey.  The Lacey Pride Lacrosse club having just concluded their fifth season has grown significantly over the past five years with teams for both Boys and Girls.  The High School program has also been benefitting from the youth program which has been evident over the past six seasons with the Boys Varsity team making it the second round of the State Tournament this year. 

This July a Lacey Pride Lacrosse Player will be representing Lacey Township and the South Jersey Chapter of US Lacrosse in the National Youth Lacrosse Festival in Denver, Colorado.  There were approximately 85 players representing programs from Middlesex County and south who tried out for the team and a spot on the 22 man roster, four of those trying out were from Lacey.  One Lacey player, Justin Covey (Goalie), was chosen to be a part of the roster and represent Lacey and the South Jersey Chapter of US Lacrosse in Denver.  This opportunity is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Justin who has been playing Lacrosse since fourth grade here in Lacey and will be a Freshman at Lacey High School in September.  Please join us in congratulating Justin on this amazing opportunity to represent Lacey Pride Lacrosse, Lacey Township and New Jersey in this event. 

The J Britton Foundation, a local non-profit organization, which is helping to promote the importance of education and maintaining a drug free lifestyle through the sport of Lacrosse, is attempting to help Justin and his family make this opportunity a reality.  The Foundation has set up a fundraising page through YouCaring.com in order to help the Covey family cut expenses.  All proceeds will go directly to the family to help with airfare and lodging for the event in Denver, CO.
