Two people eating their way to adventure in South Jersey!

Friday Foodstuffs: Slow Food South Jersey Shore Offers Farm-to-Table and Entomophagy Gastronomy

Wha?

Bug eating.

Oh. Wha?

Seriously, the consumption of insects is becoming more and more of a reality in this country as new sources of food are being sought out. And if you thought that all those times your friends forced you to eat a bug back in the day would come to nothing, your training may have actually paid off. On Monday, March 19, Slow Food South Jersey Shore is having a pot luck dinner and cooking demo with Benjamin Pratt, a consumer liaison and social researcher at World Entomophagy. The dinner starts at 7:30 p.m., so bring a dish and an open mind.

In Ocean County

Tonight is the Dinner with the Fine Arts: American Female Photographers event at Georgian Court University in Lakewood.

A little ways away...

For this weekend, we still have a little time left for Atlantic City Restaurant Week, but only just a little. The dining event ends on Saturday. Starting Sunday, though, you have Collingswood Restaurant Week to help pick up the slack. Collingswood Restaurant Week runs through Friday, March 16.

And for the more adventurous...

Saturday is the kickoff of the two-day Garden State Cake Show in Burlington as well as France on Tour at Bellview Winery in Landisville. Saturday is also the Chili & Chowder Cook-Off at Marquis de Lafayette Hotel in Cape May.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the mention! While farm-to-table is certainly more "conventional" slow food, i am happy t report that we are sold out! You can tempt your taste buds though on the 19th with our insect eating - or maybe more likely - the potluck dinner.

Thanks for the mention!

Thank you for the mention of our dinner at Congress Hall. We've got quite a crowd coming now - we've sold out! Our Chef and Menu will not disappoint. The highlight of this week in Cape May and anither great event from the Cape May Forum and Slow Food South Jersey Shore partnership. Thanks again!
