Who's the Lacey Person of the Year?
TIME magazine named their person of the year. Tell us who you think should win from our area!
This month, Time magazine named President Obama their Person of the Year, again.
The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including the president, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, and Apple CEO Tim Cook. But, the president took the title again four years after he first won the award as president-elect in 2008.
But how about locally? Who is the Lacey area’s Person of the Year — the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse”?
Tell us your pick in the comment section below!

Didn't apple CEO make 200 million making his products with outsourced labor in china? Will all liberals join me in boycotting apple products until they are made in America.

Time magazines standards for person of the year have dropped low.. I would nominate the local first responder who has a lot higher rating the this President and did more when it Counted..

from Lacey Township, I vote for the Lacey United Methodist Church. Not a person, but a group of people who did outstanding work in organizing the Sandy Relief efforts. I know this has historically not been a church of great monetary means, but they certainly made the most of what they were given in this crisis.

Aside from being me, the most awesome person on the planet, I deserve this title because this year I retired after 6 years of delivering in the town. I liked to imagine myself as patrolling the town, maintaining the status-quo, while serving residents delicious food.
Seriously though, I probably have impacted more people's lives in this town than any other public figure (albeit in a more subtle way).

"Person of the Year (formerly Man of the Year) is an annual issue of the United States news magazine Time that features and profiles a person, group, idea or object that "for better or for worse, ...has done the most to influence the events of the year."[
I suppose Sandy would qualify and be the hands down winner.

@Elaine,
Matt Reid delivered Chinese food through the rain, snow, hail, freezing temperatures and holidays. Eating lo mein from China King? Thank Matt Reid. Able to bring the family together over a hot meal? Matt Reid most likely brought it. Need to know an address? He knows this town and its geographical intricacies better than most could comprehend. It's time to honor this unsung hero.

Matt Reid,
He has been my best friend for almost ten years. He has been a fellow co worker and school mate. He has been my protector and guider. I love him as a brother. He has brought so much to this county and our community, with the help on several boards; from cleaning up the town to equal rights. He is my hero..

Yet again it has come down to two great candidates. Currently it seems only fair to have this vote go to someone who has dedicated their life and time to helping those who live in this exceptional town. The most understandable character that could surely fit this description would have to be soon to be Dr. Matt Reid. For he has become a man all love and will live with his heart of gold and hands of service.
