Senior Citizen Charged in Hit and Run

Police blotter from the last week

A Forked River senior citizen was charged with drunken driving after a hit and run motor vehicle accident, police said.

Police responded to an accident at 4:50 p.m. Jan. 7 at Lacey Road and Manchester Avenue.

One of the involved vehicles was located on Lakeside Drive near Deerhead. Robert Nowalk, 82, of Forked River was arrested and charged with DWI, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and improper turn.

Jan. 6
Police responded to a motor vehicle accident at 2:30 a.m. on Route 9 near Taylor Lane. A 2007 Chevy pickup truck struck a utility pole and fled the scene. Michael Turek, 49, of Pennsylvania was charged with failure to report a motor vehicle accident, not wearing a seatbelt and failure to maintain lane. 

Jan. 6
Items were stolen from a home under construction on Penguin Court in Forked River. A detailed list of stolen items is not yet available.

Jan. 5
Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Ashley Morales, 23, of Bayville at 1:30 a.m. Morales was traveling south on Route 9 near Oak Street. She was allegedly traveling northbound, partially in the wrong lane. She was charged with DWI, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane. 

Jan. 5
Raymond Sleeper, 27, of Forked River was arrested on an outstanding Lacey Township warrant of $1,000. He was unable to post bail and was transported to jail.
