Route 9 South Shut Down South of Bay Avenue Due To Accident

Accident occurred near Lakeside Drive South

Police have shut down a portion of Route 9 due to a motor vehicle accident that occurred earlier this morning.

Traffic south of Bay Avenue is being detoured.

The accident site is just south of Lakeside Drive South.

One patient was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, according to the Breaking News Network.

The accident happened at approximately 6 a.m.

Special Officer Ken Martin of Forked River was transported to Community Medical Center for injuries after he was struck by a motor vehicle while directing traffic. He has since been released.
