Residents Accused of Trying to Sell Cocaine Near Elementary School
Ocean County grand juries hand up indictments
Two Forked River men remain lodged in Ocean County Jail on drug charges after being arrested Aug. 23 near the Forked River Elementary School.
Joseph A. Macavoy, 50, and Matthew J. Macavoy, 22, were indicted last week on numerous drug charges alleging possession and possession with intent to distribute while a Seaside Heights woman and Forked River female face possession charges.
Authorities said both Macavoys were in possession of cocaine, and both men were indicted on charges alleging they intended to sell the drug. As they were arrested within 1,000 feet of the elementary school, both also were charged with possession with intent to distribute in a school zone.
Matthew Macavoy additionally was charged with possession of oxycodone.
They were arrested alongside Arlene F. McKevitt, 30, of Seaside Heights, and Gabriella Terrill, 21, of Forked River, who were charged with possession of cocaine and possession of oxycodone, respectively.
Terrill and McKevitt were released on summons'. Matthew Macavoy remains jailed on $25,000 bail, no 10 percent option. Joseph Macavoy is jailed on $10,000 bail, 10 percent option allowed.
Grand juries also indicted:
- Michael S. Corliss of Forked River on theft and conspiracy to deal in stolen property charges.
Corliss, 20, was charged with stealing a Berkeley woman's rings sometime between Aug. 1 and Sept. 9, as well as working with an accomplice on a plan to sell the rings, authorities said.
He was released on a summons.
Corliss was previously arrested in March along with a 16-year-old male were arrested at 5 a.m. Police found the two males walking with beer in the area of Constitution Drive in Forked River.
Corliss was charged with underage possession of alcohol and released on a summons. The minor was charged with underage possession of alcohol as well and released to his parent.
- Mark J. Walicke, 49, of Forked River on charges of fleeing a Lacey police officer.
Patrolwoman Julie Barcalow was attempting to get Walicke to stop on Aug. 28 when he allegedly kept driving in attempt to flee, the indictment states.
Walicke was charged with second-degree eluding, fourth-degree obstructing the administration of law or other governmental function and fourth-degree resisting arrest.
He was initially held on $15,000 bail but posted Sept. 1.

You see this is all you read about these days in Lacey.. DRUGS DRUGS AND MORE DRUGS AND THEFTS THEFTS AND MORE THERFTS>. and yet these people get out time after time and do the same things all over again.. Yes please throw away the keys when you lock them up.. People use to want to buy and live in Lacey because it was the town to live in.. Clean safe great schools.. but now we have friends from Staten Island who have changed their minds becasue of reading the patch and all of the crime that is going one here each and every day.. This is a dam shame that this now has gotten so out of control.. STop it PLEASE Lacey Police.. hide out anywhere you can and catch these people and yes GET THEM LOCKED UP and THROW AWAY THE KEYS>>>

I must agree with RedonRed. At first, it seems like that's all you hear about in Lacey. Yes, the problem is getting out of hand, but if you talk to people in other parts on NJ the same things is going on in their neighborhoods as well. I recently visited with family from Bergen County which is quite affluent in most parts and they were telling us of a friend's son who died from a heroin overdose and all the drugs at another high school. It's going on everywhere - doesn't make it right, but it's not just here.

Right Beach Girl... to think otherwise is not living in reality. You wouldn't even have know half or what was going on in town had it not been for this "Patch" that we now are glued to. Honestly it just feeds our curiosity & hunger for gossip. At times its no better than the National Inquirer, really. I also have family in Bergan Co. and its just as bad if not worse up there. I'll attribute it to the money that is there making it easier to put your hands on the drugs. If you want you should all join the other Patches and read whats going on in the other neck of the woods! Your own backyard will look pretty darn good !

So true. And I agree, Red, that we wouldn't even know half of these things if it weren't for the Patch. It's a good and bad thing at the same time - at least you know what you're up against as far as locking doors and cars, etc. - it makes me uneasy sometimes because it's going on in my neighborhood, but I am more cautious yet I just have to live my life and hope that my kids stay on the right path!

If you have a rabid dog lose in the neighborhood and the patch alerted you, you would then be able to take protective measures to keep your family safe. If many children around you are dead because of the drug problem in your community and then you find your children, now have the same problem, I'd say it is too late for your child uunless you act quickly.. The Patch and the citizens who post on the Patch are trying to help one another with community problems. I strongly suggest a FEDERAL PROBE INTO THE DRUG PROBLEM and CORRUPTION PROBLEM in OCEAN COUNTY, NJ. The FEDERAL DEA # 202-307-4000 / THE FBI # 732-741-0006 / U. S. If you are all that concerned, you should form a neighborhood watch team. It's really easy and can alert the police much earlier of suspicious activity before it happens. I have one on my street and it works.

forked river school is k-4 what kind of 4th grader has the money for cocaine or even know what cocaine is. but they should stay in jail because finally the lacey pd catches someone with the real problem in our town COCAINE.next is the pills and heroin

Joseph. The cocaine wasn't found in the school just in a house near the school. I agree with everyone on here pretty much. Drugs are every where especially since we live by the water. The boats bring in the drugs like cocaine in the first place. I grew up on LBI and we had FBI drug raids around town like every month. As to our children well being a mother of three all I can do is educate and talk to them about it, hope and pray and stay on top of who they hang with and what they are doing. This is part of life and parents should be caring a little more then some parents do.
