Police: Smoking Device Found on Walmart Shoplifter

Police blotter for the past week

Two Ocean County residents were arrested for allegedly shoplifting from Walmart, one who also was served drug charges.

Jacquelyn Bundy, 26, of Bayville allegedly attempted to steal $25.24 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

Police responded to the scene at 6:56 p.m. on Jan. 3 and arrested Bundy.

Prior to being transported to the Lacey Township Police Department, she was searched, police said. Police discovered a smoking device containing marijuana residue.

Bundy was charged with shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana 50 grams or less. She was processed and released on a summons.

That same day, at 9:30 p.m., police responded to Walmart again for another report of shoplifting.

William Mullen, 46, of Barnegat was arrested and charged with shoplifting. He allegedly attempted to steal $163.46 worth of merchandise. He was processed and released on a summons.

On Jan. 1 at 4:30 p.m., police responded to Walmart and arrested Barbara Dietlmeier, 48, of Toms River for allegedly shoplifting $77.82 of merchandise. She was transported and released on a summons.

Jan. 3
An officer made a motor vehicle stop on Alpine Street at 9:30 p.m. for an equipment violation. During the stop, the officer detected the odor of marijuana in the car. Investigation led to the arrest of a 16-year-old Forked River female. She was charged with possession of marijuana 50 grams or less and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jan. 3
Police responded to a home on Lake Barnegat Drive North where a vehicle was reported damage. Something was thrown at the front windshield causing approximately $500 in damage.

Jan. 2
A resident of Turn Court in Forked River reported someone stole more than $300 of scrapable material from the yard, including car radiators and catalytic converters.

Jan. 1
A resident of Bayville reported that a pocketbook containing an iPod Touch, personal credit cards and cash valued more than $1,000 were stolen. The pocketbook was stolen while the victim was a patron at the Forked River House.

Holy crap, every freaking day now grown and middle age adults are shoplifting at Wal Mart! And those are? just the ones there and the ones that get caught.
This is freaking insane. Are these people really that stupid? Obviously they are scum but that stupid?
Dont they realize people get caught every freaking day?
Do they WANT to go to jail?
Well lock them up and keep them there away from us.

Your sweet. And thanks!
I didnt say people that dont steal and are wrongly accused of something are scum.
You should be at least smart enough to realize that.
Then again maybe not.
But people who ARE hard drug abusers(since you brought it up) and hurt people or steal from them ARE scum. Most people who dont do that would agree.
Its pretty much that simple.
Sorry to hear that police are allegedly targeting your family and setting them up. I have not heard about any of that.
Gotta get back to my horse...

I had a similar response to Capt Ed although don't go as far as calling anyone scum...but, what is the deal. These are adults and are stealing $25.00 or $100.00 worth of stuff....and it seems like it is every day....is stealing especially such minimum amounts of stuff really worth a record and jail time???? Can't even imagine how much Walmart's and other box stores lose as this these amounts start adding up...very sad for everyone.

Doesnt matter how much the value is. If your a grown thief and stealing you deserve jail time and a record. I know we like to think its 15 year old unwed mothers that cant afford food for their starving child that are stealing but the reality is thats not even close. And we all know it. Its more and more often 30-50 year old dirt bags with records and are drug users and looking for something for money or they think they are entitled to that big screen tv they cant afford. Read the patch reports?
So now YOU AND I have to pay even more to make up for theft.
If these were KIDS stealing a hat for a prank I would surely give them a break. But they are NOT usually.

How about you, John Mendalovitz? Can you afford to lose a few bucks? If so, let us know where you live so we can come and rob you. If not, you fit in perfect with the new mentality in this country "I deserve what others have and don't need to work for it".

Here we go again. Blaming everyone except the losers committing the crimes. Keep catching them and calling the police. Sooner or later the system will be forced to deal with them.

Corsair that was funny. Walmart for these shoplifters is like the raid roach motel " they check in but they dont check out". Nj Ghost what are you five years old? . sounds like you have more to worry about than comments on the patch if you say your family have been "falsely" accused of drugs and stealing. Maybe we,ll catch you on an episode of " intervention" on the A&E channel.

It's only robbery if she assaulted someone during the theft. However I agree lock them up and let them see what jail is like for a year. No cell phones or privacy.
