Police Crash A Late-Night Bonfire Party On Murray Grove Property
Officers issued complaints for underage drinking and more to four teenagers and two adults, including a Lacey man with a previous arrest record
Thomas Carrano, 19, of Forked River, had another brush with the law when he was spotted in the woods behind the Murray Grove Retreat and Renewal Conference Center in Lanoka Harbor having what appeared to be a campfire party, police say.
Carrano was found at the retreat center last Thursday, June 16 in the company of four teenagers and Michael Foley, 42, of Forked River, having what appeared to be a campfire party.
On Thursday night, two officers responded to a report of a possible party and fire at about 10 p.m., according to Lieutenant James Veltri of the Lacey Township Police Department.
Carrano and the four teens were charged with juvenile complaints for underage consumption of alcohol. Carrano and Foley were issued special complaints for open burning and trespassing, but no arrests were made.
Last fall, Carrano was arrested as a juvenile for an alleged car burglary, theft, robbery and criminal mischief. Police said he was involved in robbing two younger teens in October of 2010.
Murray Grove is a Universalist retreat and renewal conference center. It stands on a historic site where the original Murray Grove house was first erected in 1890 and later perished in a fire in 1955.
