Police Blotter: Lacey Road Wawa Employees Report Thefts
Police received five reports of items stolen from the store's break room
Multiple employees at the Lacey Road Wawa have filed theft reports after they say their personal belongings were stolen from the store's break room.
Four reports were filed with police on Jan. 5, with another made on Jan. 6. More than $400 in cash and gift cards was reported stolen, along with three personal checkbooks, said Lacey police Lt. James Veltri.
No arrests have been made in the thefts, he said.
Veltri also reported the following incidents:
Jan. 3
Ptl. Schaffer responded to Lacey Walmart on a shoplifting report. Mary Brumlow, a 38-year-old woman from Barnegat, was arrested on a charge of attempting to steal nearly $60 worth of goods from the store, Veltri said. Brumlow was processed at police headquarters and was released on a summons.
Jan. 4
A vacant residence on Devon Street in Forked River was the apparent target of copper thieves, Veltri said. About 100 feet of copper valued at about $400 was taken. No arrests were reported by police.
Jan. 5
Ptl. Simonson responded to a Cambridge Road residence when a resident reported that jewelry was stolen. Veltri said that it appeared access to the home was gained by force. The value of the jewelry stolen was unknown.
Lacey police Detective Brian Flynn investigated, along with officers from the Ocean County Sheriff's Department Criminal Investigation Unit.
That same day in what police said was an unrelated incident, Ptl. Keith Pearce was called to a Driftwood Lane, Lanoka Harbor, residence where $1,300 of jewelry was reported stolen. Veltri said that there was no sign of forced entry.
Jan. 8
Ptl. Sam Dellasala responded to a Knollwood Court residence where it was discovered by an occupant that $1,700 worth of jewelry had been taken from the home between late December and the day of the report. Veltri said that there were no signs of forced entry and police are still investigating.
Also on Jan. 8, Ptl. Darrell Nick was called to the Lacey Walmart after 12 wooden pallets valued at $120 were reported stolen. Police have made no arrests in the incident.
The above charges are not an indication of guilt.

Stealing those pallets?? Many times the pallets are given away because it's too expensive for the store to trash them!! And at this time of the year, they are used as fire wood..Been there, done that!!

Don't burn the blue pallets....they are treated for pests and release chemicals in the air when they burn.

Those BLUE PALLETS are from the CHEP Company and in the warehouse industry they are worth over $30.00 each. Now that that secret is out they will all be stolen by strong young people because they weigh over 80lbs. each. Keep your eyes open for pick-up trucks loaded with them on Rt. 9 and follow them to the next
DRUG DEAL. Follow the money or pallets in this case!!!!!!

Just because someone is taking pallets doesn't mean that they are going to a drug deal. They have absolutely nothing to do with eachother! So what if kids now a days use them for fires, its keeping them out of trouble for the time being. Just because today's generation enjoys having bonfires in the woods does not mean that they are all doing drugs. That is complete nonsense & you know it.

Nic: you are correct, not "ALL" are doing drugs, although alcohol is a controlled substance. Open fires , of any kind are a federal, state, and local violations of the law, without a permit. Why would a reasonable person burn a commodity valued at $30.00 or more, they might as well use $20.00 and $10.00 dollar bills as fuel? All these things lend me to think that those individuals who practice this type of socialization event are in dire need of behavior modification therapy, but this is only my opinion, just like you have yours. Lacey NEEDS A YOUTH CENTER here is more proof of it. The Municipal Alliance and Township Committee need to stop going to donut and coffee meetings and talk, talk, talk, and take some POSITIVE action. P.S. Nic please stay safe while you are out there in the woods, I keep trying to get you some other place to go. Wanna help, to to township meetings and complain!!!!!!
