Police Arrest Two Area Men On Weapons Charges After Altercation

Incident occurred at New Jersey Transit bus stop on Route 9, no injuries reported

 

Two area men were arrested and taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River recently after police responded to a dispute involving a knife at a New Jersey Transit bus stop, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Several police officers responded to a 911 call at 11 p.m. on April 25 about an altercation at the bus stop on Route 9 and Jones Road in Forked River.

They recovered two folding knives and one fixed blade knife believed to be used by two mean during a "heated argument," the chief said.

Police arrested Eduardo Andrade, Toms River, and Sergio Cruz-Miranda, 30, Beachwood at the scene. Both men were charged with obstructing the administration of the law, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, Paprota said.

Both defendants were taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $10,000 bail, the chief said.
