New Eatery Offers Newark-Style Hot Dogs for Take Out

Jersey Guys Hot Dogs and Fries opens Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m.

Italian hot dogs may have originated in Newark but Lacey residents will have to look no further than their backyard for a taste. Jersey Guys Hot Dogs and Fries opens at 118 Route 9 in Forked River on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m.

Karen Suppa of Barnegat is opening the local eatery with her husband, Anthony, who was raised in Newark and has been in the business for many years, as he has owned hot dog trucks and stores. Jersey Guys actually began on the Seaside Heights boardwalk, Karen Suppa said.

“I’m doing this for my wife,” Anthony Suppa said. “We always wanted a place on a main stretch like this.”

The store, which used to be the Champion Produce Market, was completely overhauled, Karen Suppa said.

While Jersey Guys’ specialty is Italian Hot Dogs, they will also sell pizza bread, sausage, push cart hot dogs, homemade onions and jelly, meatballs, chicken parmesan, fries, cheese fries, steak cut onion rings and more for take out.

Jersey Guys Hot Dogs and Fries will be open Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
