For 2013, David Most will be serving the township as mayor while Committeeman Gary Quinn will be deputy mayor as they were both sworn in at Tuesday’s annual reorganization meeting.
“Dave has served in this position before, he’s done a great job for us in that position,” Quinn said of Most as mayor. “It’s going to be a rough year. We’ve got a lot of issues coming down the pipe that we have to deal with but Dave is a hands-on guy.”
Most is taking on the role after serving on the committee for seven years. He has two years remaining in this term.
“It takes a lot of work up here on the committee,” he said. “Sometimes we don’t all agree but you know, one of my favorite attributes of Lacey Township is that we’re a family and there are so many people who take pride in our community.”
It’s a “privilege” to serve Lacey, he said.
“You worry about the community like you do your family, especially during a hurricane,” he said.
In addition to mayor and deputy mayor nominations, Quinn and Committeeman Mark Dykoff were sworn in for another term. Both committeemen have served the township for nine years and were re-elected in November with 77 percent of the votes.
The power remains in the hand of Republicans with Most, Quinn and Dykoff and Democrats Sean Sharkey and Helen DelaCruz. Republicans have maintained the committee for more than a decade.
Municipal appointments were also made at the reorganization meeting. These appointments assign a committee member as a liaison to a municipal department.
The assignments change annually. Decisions for municipal appointments are made in executive session and depend on committee member's interest in certain areas as well as their qualifications.
Below are the municipal appointments for 2012. Please continue to follow Lacey Patch for more on the reorganization meeting.
