MANDATORY Evacuations for Waterfront Lacey Residents
Travel on township roadways restricted after 4 p.m. Monday
Waterfront Lacey residents must evacuate today according to a state of emergency declaration signed by Mayor Mark Dykoff.
Additionally, anyone who lives within 1,000 feet of a lagoon, bay, creek or river must leave their homes. Shelters are as follows:
- Southern Regional High School, Stafford, open now. NOT pet friendly.
- Toms River North High School, Toms River, open at 4 p.m. Pet friendly.
- Pinelands Middle School, Little Egg Harbor, open at 8 p.m. Pet friendly.
A state of emergency is in effect as of 4 p.m. in the township. "It has been determined that the Township of Lacey should then be declared a disaster area, and further that certain measures must be taken in order to ensure that the authorities will be unhampered in their efforts to maintain law and order as well as an orderly flow of traffic and further in order to protect the persons and property of the residents affected by the conditions," reads Dykoff's proclamation.
Additionally, all travel will be restricted to essential vehicles only as of noon Monday.
The township reminds residents that garbage and recycling collection is cancelled, and all cans should be secured and not left curbside. Also, Lacey Municipal Court is cancelled Tuesday.
Residents needing to move their cars can utilize the lots at Hebrew and Gille Parks.

The actual declaration said waterfront, not lakes, bays or streams or creeks. Look at township website.

So,are the restricted after noon tomorrow, or is it four o'clock? You can't tell from the conflicting information in the article and by lines. Thanks Nick for clearing up that residents in mandatory evacuation areas are required to leave their homes and not the township as was previously written. Apparently, Ed Crowley received a reverse. 911. I did not. Not a good time for bad information.

As Per the NJ SPCA. Don't be intimidated into leaving your animals behind. Take them to the shelter. Captain Yocum NJ SPCA has stated that Gov. Christie said if the shelter you go to will not accept your animals THEY will get you to a shelter that will. Pet Friendly Shelters are Pinelands and Toms River North High School. Again, do not leave your animals behind. Any complaints about shelters refusing animals or turning you away should be addressed after the storm to NJ SPCA.

FB Exit 74 on Face Book has just announced that Toms River North High School Is FULL. That leaves only Pinelands as pet friendly. So, be interesting to see if these other so called shelters refuse people that have pets.

Yea why don't we have a shelter? My rising taxes should have paid for a shelter with a few big screen TVs and game systems. Maybe we should take a closer look into where our property tax goes

The marsh adjacent to the roads you mentioned is full and crossing Sunrise Blvd. the bay is hammering either side of the channel at the mouth of the main lagoon that parallels Capstan Drive. That's about an hour ago. Last update because I'm not going down there anymore. Cedar Creek and Laurel Blvd. in Lanka Harborare also brimming and that was a couple of hours ago. A friend called from Forked River Beach and said it is likewise.

WHAT??!!?? NO EMERGENCY SHELTERS AT LACEY SCHOOLS??? With a solar power system on the school, their reason: NO GENERATOR? Solar can be isolated to a building just for this reason. " mandatory evacuation for anyone who lives within 1,000 feet of a lagoon, bay, creek or river."
SERIOUSLY??? with a 4 million dollar school surplus, the WATERFRONT community never thought to put in emergency power???
Southern Regional High School, Stafford, open now. NOT pet friendly.

It's a little late, but for those in need that have lost their homes, or have no power Lacey Methodist Church on Lacey Road, is serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to those in need. They also have shelter available and their doors are open. THEY ARE PET FRIENDLY. Sorry for the late posting, but I just got power back.

Just wanted to also post, for those fortunate enough to have no damage and power, they (The Lacey Methodist Church) could use donations. They have been doing a lot for the Lacey Community since the storm and are continuing to do. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner supplied daily to those in need, are providing shelter to those in need, and are sending volunteers out tomorrow to help those on the water. They are the Lacey Methodist Church on Lacey Road (The Old St. Pius Church).
