Lions Latest: Boys Basketball Continues to Impress

A recap of the Lacey Lions week in sports

Boys Basketball: The Lions, led by senior center Tyrell Smith and point guard Tasheen Carrow among others, have been putting on a show throughout the gyms of the Shore Conference. Lacey sits with a record of 17-1, including a B-South clinching record of 10-0 in divisional play. The strong play has earned the Lions the top seed in the South Jersey Group III state playoffs, pairing them with the 16th seeded Timber Creek Chargers.

With just one loss, the Lions are competing with Colts Neck for a shot at the top seed in the Shore Conference Tournament, as well. In a tight defensive battle, Lacey used a 15 point fourth quarter to defeat Barngeat 33-24 on Wednesday. Carrow had 13 points.

Girls Basketball: The Lady Lions currently sit at 13-5, which should lead to a good seeding in both the Shore Conference and SJIII tournaments. Lately, the girls are riding a three game winning streak defeating Pinelands Regional, Toms River South, and Barnegat.
