Letter: Democratic Committeeman Will Not Seek Second Term

Sean Sharkey 'will continue to fight hard for the people of this town' in his last year as Committeeman

To the Citizens of Lacey Township:

In November of 2010, I was elected to the Township Committee in order to bring a new voice to a governing body that had been under one-party rule for half a decade. Along the way to my election, I met with many people with many different needs. During the last two years while serving I’ve met even more. I enjoy helping the people of this town as much as I can. Whether it is working with various citizens groups, reaching out to an individual with a problem, or sitting on the dais during a town meeting, it has been a pleasure to serve.

One question I have gotten repeatedly since my election is this: “Are you going to run again?” I have thought long and hard about this. I have sat with my family and friends and discussed my political future many times. It is not a decision that I came to lightly. After much thought, I have decided to focus my future in a different direction. I will not be seeking a second term on the Township Committee.

In the remaining months of my term I will continue to fight hard for the people of this town as I have in the past two years. I will continue to work with my fellow committee members on the issues that matter most: taxes, a post-power plant future, quality of life issues, and much more. At the end of this year I intend to make sure that Lacey is in a better position than it was when I took office in 2011. I thank the people of this town and look forward to continuing to serve you for the remainder of this year.

Towns that employed debris-removal contractors other than a state-hired Florida firm achieved savings that, when totaled, amount to millions of dollars of taxpayer money.

Florida-based AshBritt Inc. charged towns $21.25 per cubic yard to gather roadside debris and bring it to a collection site within 15 miles. That was nearly double the $11.70 asking price of another Florida company, Bergeron, and other firms, records show

Sean was a very nice young man and I thank him for his service, but we all know that he did nothing up there and was clueless half of the time. Sean gave it a shot and I respect him for that. Good luck in your new endeavors Sean, your positive personality will take you far I am sure!

I struggle to find any positive change that was brought on by Mr. Sharkey. Frankly he seems unprepared at the meetings and presents no new ideas. If it wasn't for an occasional idiotic rambling you would think he already checked out.

Perhaps if it was done right the first time and the "professionals" the Tc hired had any clue it wouldn't have had to be done again

Could you give us one example of "positive change" brought by the other members of the TC? No the Friends and Family for votes plan is not one

Yes they voted to fought the battle to get the funds to repair Lake Barnegat Dr and laurel Blvd. If you recall Sean originally voted against it, Latter when confronted with the flooding issue on Barnegat he scolded everyone and said "that's what wrong with this town, things that should be fixed are pushed off to the future". Shortly after Quinn convinced him to vote yes to get the funding ad repaiur the roads.

I'm still waiting for the budget that Sean and Helen claim they were preparing?

Taxes will go up and last minute budget crunches will not change no matter who is in there the practice of borrowing from Paul to pay Peter has FAILED us especially the middle class and seniors. With the nuke plant shutting down soon and jobs going by the wayside and people moving We are in deep doodoo unless someone with some know how comes in out of nowhere.(and not that crooked attorney).

@Danny White, wait until you see how taxes go up when people start walking away from homes with no equity in them as the value plummets. There are going to be tax appeals out the wazoo. Small business after small business will be shuttered up.Of course that will take a while. Don't the Township Committee members see this? Why aren't they fighting for their constituency with a concerted effort to stop the madness of FEMA?
Ask yourselves this question?:
Is the NFIP too big to fail?
Well folks the answer is that they already have.
Write local, county, state and federal officials and let them know that you will not be voting for those responsible for crippling our communities.

yeah proud because it was fema and the red cross not sandythat crippled the shore. forked tongue is just a moldy leftover from the boss hog parker/reid dictatorship.oh and congrats on the over million dollar project done on lake barnegat dr. it washes everything into that lake because no one figured water rolls downhill so when all the fertilizer from lawns and storm drain run off that now runs into that lake can be blamed on the geese by clueless goobers.

@Frank Reynolds, the work done to pollute the lake is typical of Lacey government. We need to completely change the faces on the committee. They have a problem with scientific ideas, such as water running downhill, or that sand washes between rocks piled on a beach. You know, 2nd grade stuff. Mr. Sharkey, you will be missed

which Lacey "professional" thought it was a good idea to have the storm drains into the Lakes?

Im convinced that Forked Tongue is on the friends and family plan
Didn't get the memo that he flooding on LBD was the fault of the republicon professionals hired by the the republicon led TC
They also didn't get the memo how the tax payers were fleeced on a permit for a road that cant be built due to the laws of the land
I also am convinced that Forked Tongue thinks we got a "good deal" with the no bid contracts set up by Gilmore and Christie

I think Romney is in the witness protection program with Bush. " i ordered spaghetti and marinara sauce and all i got was egg noodles and ketchup" . this town sank under the reid /parker system. They borrowed million for roads to nowhere and bad designs on just about everything and all the while the "ancients" known as the republican club of Lacey told anyone who didnt like it "to move if you dont like it" .Greedy selfish old people who show up at town meetings in short sleeved leisure suits who wanted things like a cemetary built over our drinking water. "Hey my ice cubes taste like aunt Millie."

So Tom, what has changed since Parker and Reid were ejected by Georgie Boy to "get the pebble out of his shoe"? The new "Head Boy" is only interested in things that will put more money in his pocket (like using the DPW to correct a water issue on a piece of property he built a house on, piping untested water from an area of town with gas tainted wells, into Deerhead Lake). And we are still living in "Casey Township", where the head of the DPW has free reign to do whatever he wishes without question, wrong or right. And heaven forbid, you should question his expertise! The man is "all knowing".. As the expression goes, "The King is dead, long live the King".

Nothing can change as long as the vote is 3-2..Gilmore still gets the job but lets his underlings go to meetings. The labor lawyer is the same guy that told the committee that they could furlough. How did that one work out

question

why didn't the Tc go after the Labor Lawyers O and E insurance instead of sticking it to the tax payers for bad advice?

Speaking of bad advice why shouldn't the white castle be allowed to stay open 24 hours when the 3 wa wa s 2 7 11 s and wal mart are all open 24hours?
