Lacey Man Airlifted After Lacey Road Accident

Charges are pending following the two-car collision

A Forked River male sustained injuries and was airlifted to the hospital after police responded to an accident on Lacey Road early this morning.

Police responded to Lacey Road near Newark Avenue for a two-car motor vehicle accident at 7:55 a.m.

Preliminary investigation found that a pickup truck operated by Stephen Perez, 21, of Forked River was attempting to make a left turn onto Lacey Road eastbound from the parking lot of JT’s Bagel Hut. While attempting to turn, a full size van driven by Shane Kilburg, 25, of Waretown was traveling westbound on Lacey Road.

The van struck the pickup truck on its side, police said.

Perez was injured in the collision and airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He is currently listed in stable condition, police said.

Kilburg was uninjured, police said.

The accident is under investigation and several motor vehicle charges are pending.

I cannot stress the importance of wearing a seat belt. That is a difficult lot to turn left from anytime of day but at 8am on a week day...extremely chancy.

This picture is well past the accident scene and the cones are there due to freshly painted lines.

Making a left onto Lacey Road is close to impossible at any time of the day. More traffic lights need to be put up. Especially down by St Pius! I hope the guy who was air lifted is doing okay. Probably on his way to work. Scary that our lives can change in an instant! Prayers go out!

Lacey rd. is dangerous!!!!!! Speed limit too fast , considering modern driving skills. Too many cross streets. Idiots racing to the next light changing lanes.
