Intoxicated Man Fled Scene of Accident, Later Transported to Hospital

A Villas, N.J. man struck a tree and parked vehicle with a Chevrolet Camaro that was reported stolen

A Villas, N.J. resident was transported to the hospital after a hit and run motor vehicle accident, police said.

Matthew Bland, 27, was allegedly driving a black Chevrolet Camaro down Spaulding Avenue at a high rate of speed on Friday at 1:15 a.m. when he crossed Andover Road and struck a tree and parked vehicle in a yard.

Police responded to the intersection of Spaulding Avenue and Andover Road but Bland allegedly fled the scene in a second vehicle.

The Camaro was later reported stolen from the parking lot of the Forked River House.

Police were dispatched to a Sunrise Boulevard home at 3:07 a.m. for an intoxicated male, Bland, with a severe leg injury. He was then identified as the driver of the Camaro, police said.

The Lacey Township First Aid Squad transported Bland to Jersey Shore Trauma Center.

The incident is under investigation and charges are pending.

Yep! He hit my brand new car, ruined our fence, and then the female who picked him up assaulted my best friends father! We want answers and justice! The cops haven't even called me yet!

Listen everyone makes stupid mistakes in life. Give him community service and an apology letter. I know Matt and if he did this. Which I highly doubt I'm sure he is very very sorry.

You should be lucky he didnt hit & kill a relative of yours , Maybe you would have a different light on it He should be lucky he is still alive ,Some jail time & fines & insurance charges ,The apology letter can be flushed down the bowl

wonder how his supporters would feel if he killed a friend or relative or himself
maybe if he knows the right person on Lacey rd he can get it to go away

The way your house is set on the property along with the layout of the road should of never been approved by any township. This young man is the fall guy.

Yes Ryan... from your lips to god's ears.. lets hope we are heard.. how dare he and his girlfriend.. hurt my husband.. they were fleeing and thinking they would not get caught.. Matt your leg will remind you every day for the rest of your life.. that you never ever Steal nor Drive Drunk..

BOTTOM LINE.... Matt stole a vehicle. That's not right at all. He drove drunk. Which also wrong and also very selfish. He didn't need to drive down my road. I don't care if the layout is odd or not. He has nothing down here for him. Next, the girl he was with shouldn't have let him steal the car, left the bar, and let him get away. Next, he destroyed our lawn, tree, garabage cans, fence, and MY BRAND NEW CAR. He could've done the next best thing, and stayed at the scene, and took integrity for his mistakes, I would've had maybe a tiny itty bitty of respect for him if he stayed..... it doesn't stop there. Matt and his gf hurt my best friends father when they took off... physically hurting him. Like really? As if destroying everything wasnt enough.... so screw the people who think he's innocent, and screw the people who don't think this is wrong. End of story!

I think Matt was wrong in what he did. But a loss of license ok thats fine. Community service yes. But jail absolutely not. People need a second chance. We all know that.

yes he was.. but he left the scene of an accident.. and that in my book is a FLIGHT RISK.. I don't TRUST HIM or her.. so as far as I am concern a few years in Jail will do him some good.. with the reminder of his broken leg.. will also be a constant reminder too.. as well as his arrest record... he screwed up big time..
